Here are some terms you might hear while working with rabbits...
Groups- ARBA: American Rabbit Breeders Association Breeding- Gestation: Period or time between breeding and birthing/kindling Kindling: Giving birth to babies Dam: Mom Sire: Dad Buck: Boy Doe: Girl Nest box: A box where the mom makes a nest and has the babies Kit: Baby bunny Group Colors- Self Shaded Agouti Tan Pattern AOV (All Other Varieties) Show Words- Entry: Rabbit that will participate in the show DQ: Disqualified N/S: No show GC: Grand Champion. A rabbit that has earned 3 or more legs, and 1 of them being a senior leg. Must be at least judged by 2 different judges. Leg: a leg is earned by winning in an ARBA-sanctioned show as long as there are three exhibitors and five rabbits competing for the win. BOB: Best of Breed BRIS: Best Reserve in Show. Rabbit that is second best at show. BIS: Best in Show BOSG: Best opposite sex group. Usually referring to the best doe in group if buck was picked for BOG BOG: Best of Group BOSV: Best opposite sex variety. Usually referred to the best doe, if a buck has been picked for BOV BOV: Best of Variety (Color) |
